Julie Lauren Curtis’s Marriage With Trace Adkins

Julie Lauren Curtis and Trace Adkins met in 1989 and began dating, quickly developing a strong interest in each other. After two years of dating, they decided to take their relationship to the next level and got married on February 3, 1991.

In the beginning, their marriage seemed happy and they appeared to be very compatible. However, over time, their relationship started to worsen and things became toxic between them. A major factor contributing to their problems was Trace’s habit of drinking excessively.

His heavy drinking took a toll on Julie, affecting her mentally and emotionally. However, the tension between them reached a breaking point in 1994. During a particularly heated argument, Julie, in a fit of anger, shot Trace with a .38 pistol.

The incident escalated when Trace, trying to scare Julie into dropping the gun, threatened to snatch it from her and beat the brains out of it. His words were meant to frighten her, not to be taken literally, but they only fueled the situation further.

Julie ended up firing two bullets, one hitting Trace in the heart and the other in his lungs. Trace was severely injured and lost consciousness. He was airlifted to the hospital, where doctors were initially unsure if he would survive.

They even advised his family and friends to come and say their final goodbyes. Despite the grim outlook, Trace miraculously survived the ordeal. Despite the severity of the incident, Trace chose not to press charges against Julie.

However, the shooting drew the end of their marriage. The event left a permanent scar on their relationship, and they separated shortly after and finalized their divorce in 1997.
