Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer are still friends but no longer co-workers at the NBC “Today Show.” However, their friendship once took a dramatic falloff when a bombshell of sexual misconduct allegations emerged.
However, it seems the allegation doesn’t matter anymore as both parties, Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer, and other co-workers at “Today Show” were seen in attendance at Jennifer Long (Today’s show producer) and Reid Sterrett’s wedding.

Savannah Guthrie And Matt Lauer ~ Friendship Status
As reported, Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer were once best friends and also coworkers at the Today Show. However, their friendship fell off drastically to the point that it became a rumor that they were not friends anymore. Savannah Guthrie is a prominent Australian-born American broadcast journalist and attorney. She took the prominent role as the main co-anchor of the NBC News morning show Today in July 2012, before this, she was also chief legal analyst across all NBC platforms.
On the other hand, Matt Lauer, born on December 30, 1957, was a seasoned American television personality and journalist who co-hosted the “Today” show with Savannah Guthrie for over five years.
During their partnership at Today Show, they shared a deep connection that strengthened their friendship. However, their friendship faced a significant setback when Matt was terminated from NBC in 2017 due to allegations of sexual misconduct.
Matt Lauer was accused of sexually harassing Brooke Nevils—a former employee at the NBC network station. Notably, Brooke Nevils claims that Matt Lauer had sexually assaulted her, which however was denied and claimed to be a false accusation by Matt Lauer.
At first, this accusation did not result in his dismissal from the network, however, it later did when several accusations from different ladies surfaced and claimed they were all sexually molested by Matt Lauer.
Notably, there hasn’t been any concrete evidence to support the claim that Matt Lauer indeed assaulted those sets of ladies including Brooke Nevils. Nevertheless, the network, NBC, had to take action after receiving a variety of complaints about his inappropriate behavior, resulting in his dismissal from “Today Show.”
However, he claims he was judged and accused falsely of something very serious. To date, Matt Lauer has stood firm to his innocence pledge.
During his dismissal, evidence shows that Savannah Guthrie and other co-workers were heartbroken. As time went by it became apparent that the once best friend had fallen out of their relationship. Thus, their friendship seemingly came to an end, or so we believed!
After over 6 years of separation, we’ve however witnessed Savannah Guthrie and Matt Lauer having their first reunion since his dismissal.
They were both in attendance and wearing a smile at the wedding of “Today” producer Jennifer Long. As a source claimed: “Before the ceremony, Savannah approached Matt, exchanged a hug, and engaged in a friendly conversation for a few minutes.
Both were amicable and warm during the interaction.” The source further revealed that an introduction between Matt’s girlfriend and his former coworker was made. Hence, this evidence shows that despite their friendship fallout, Guthrie and Lauer still share a bond.
However, their sudden bonding after many years of parting ways isn’t solid evidence that they have reconciled and made up for their wrongs.
This speculation is a result of another source who revealed that; Savannah Guthrie initially hesitated about attending because she didn’t want to be in the same room as Lauer.
Hence, their bonding at the wedding, including the smiles worn on their faces, may all be an act up in favor of the Today Show producer, Jennifer Long wedding.
