Longmire was canceled in 2014 after three seasons of devoted airing on A&E. It is rare for the highest-rated series on a certain network to be canceled.
After being named “A&E’s highest-rated original drama series of all time,” this Western mystery series, which primarily catered to older audiences, quickly found a new home on Netflix.
We still can’t quite get past the show’s second ending in 2017, which followed three more programming seasons. But it’s been a long time coming, and now is the ideal moment for Robert Taylor to make a comeback as the wise, experienced sheriff of Absaroka County.
Even with fresh plot arcs, Longmire could make a victorious comeback and is still the third most-watched Western series on Netflix.

When will Longmire Season 7 be available on Netflix?
Since the show concluded after season six, there has yet to be a release date for Longmire Season 7. Before its cancellation in August 2014, A&E showed the first three seasons of Longmire.
However, the show found a new home on Netflix by November of that year. The streaming behemoth approved Longmire’s sixth and final season in November 2016.
The executive producers, Greer Shephard, Hunt Baldwin, and John Coveny, said, “We are thankful to Netflix for the chance to write a farewell chapter for these cherished characters that inspire enduring memories.” Most importantly, we’re dedicated to rewarding our supporters’ steadfast devotion with a lively and fulfilling ending.
Netflix’s Vice President of Original Content at the time, Cindy Holland, expressed gratitude to the actors and crew. “Greer, Hunt, John, and their amazing cast and crew have been the best team to work with on this show, and we have every confidence that they will have a satisfying conclusion to this revered series,” the spokesperson said.
In addition, Bailey Chase as Branch Connally, Cassidy Freeman as Cady Longmire, Adam Bartley as Archie “The Ferg” Ferguson, Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry Standing Bear, and Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire are among the cast members.
