The Tumultuous Ordeal of Steve/Jimmy on Shameless

“Shameless” on Showtime features a lot of sketchy characters. But over his 40-episode arc on the show, one of the shadiest is so morally bankrupt that he goes by multiple names: Steve Wilton, Jimmy Lishman, and Jack (Justin Chatwin).

In the first scene of “Shameless,” Steve witnesses Fiona’s (Emmy Rossum) pocketbook being taken in a packed nightclub. He makes an unsuccessful attempt to track down the thief, but she is so impressed by his heroics that she immediately becomes attracted to him.

Steve routinely deceives Fiona and her family since he is a compulsive liar and criminal. Throughout the series, Fiona’s friends and family can persuade her at different moments that Steve is not telling the truth and is just a big pile of bad news, but other times, they can win her trust.

Following his apparent murder at the end of Season 3, Steve reappears in the Season 4 finale, “Lazarus.” During that meeting, Fiona is caught cheating on her husband, Gus (Steve Kazee), with her former partner. In Season 5, Jimmy makes a three-episode comeback, but Fiona ends their romance.

What Happened to Jimmy

Jimmy did not pass away on Shameless, but his plot was undoubtedly convoluted throughout his time there. The character was present from the show’s first season, which debuted in 2011, until the fifth season, which concluded in 2015. The fact that he was Fiona’s bad-boy love interest made him most famous.

They began dating in Season 1, Jimmy, a wealthy guy determined to disobey his parents, even purchased the house adjacent to the Gallagher family so they could be near her family.

After fleeing from South America at the end of Season 1 due to Tony’s threat to reveal his lifestyle, Jimmy returns in Season 2. Still, he brings Estefania as his new wife this time because Fiona doesn’t accompany him.

But he made a great effort to get Fiona back for the entire second season, even though he was married. Jimmy pulled off a couple of somewhat romantic gestures, and by the end of Season 2, the two were back together. Nonetheless, given Jimmy’s Season 3 plot, it makes sense that some believed he had passed away.

In addition to planning to go to medical school in Michigan during the third season of the show, he was preoccupied with trying to get away from Estefania’s father, a drug lord from South America. For Estefania to obtain citizenship, he decided to remain with her.

Jimmy and Estefania’s father were on a boat excursion when the season ended. It was hinted that Jimmy did not survive the ride, but what happened to him afterwards was unclear.

In the season finale, he and an unidentified woman appear at Gallagher’s house. He had been missing for the entirety of the fourth season and was thought to be dead for most of it.

What’s the funniest part? He believed he was dead! “I was shocked; I thought he was dead; I had made a head cast, which is when they’re probably going to blow off your head or chop off your head, so I was 100 percent certain that my character was deceased,” he stated to THR in 2015.

In Season 5, Jimmy returns, but this time, he comes to disclose himself to Fiona. After they got back together, Fiona struck him in the face and told him how she felt.

The following night, though, they made out on her kitchen floor, but she interrupts him because she is so angry about their relationship, given that she is married to Gus.

Gus requests to meet Fiona when she tells her husband about her incident with Jimmy. When they first meet, he strikes him in the face.

To Jimmy’s dismay, Fiona informs him she can’t see him anymore after the fight. He then rides out on his motorbike as Fiona leaves. That’s the final time Jimmy appears on Shameless.

Is Jimmy ever going to be back on Shameless?

Jimmy left the show, and he hasn’t come back yet. Fans did, however, hold out hope that he would return and that he and Fiona would find love again each season.

However, because Jimmy didn’t appear in Season 9 and Fiona’s plot has ended, fans are starting to lose hope that they’ll ever see Jimmy again. Still, he will always be remembered as the one who got away.
